The present study focused on the interplay between arousal valence and cognitive control to this end we investigated how arousal and valence associated with affective stimuli influenced cognitive flexibility when switching between tasks voluntarily. Task switching and cognitive control edited by james grange and george houghton brings together leading researchers from around the world to provide a state of the art overview of task switching and cognitive control offers a unique multi disciplinary approach with contributions from experimental psychology cognitive neuroscience . Cognitive control tasks might be more conducive to fatigability and more likely to show associations between subjective and objective cognitive fatigue in ms objective to study the association . We also discuss methodological and theoretical implications and argue that the explicit task cuing procedure is suitable to address issues of cognitive control and task set switching. Task set switching however is costly in that it requires time and cognitive resources any asymmetry of task switching costs between the compatible and incompatible block may thus directly contribute to an iat effect this is exactly what the task switching account postulates
